What is Scrip?

Scrip is "substitute money". When you purchase Scrip you are purchasing negotiated gift certificates and prepaid cards that are used just like cash.

How does Scrip generate money for FGIS?

Great Lakes Scrip Center acts on behalf of schools and other non-profit organizations to negotiate and purchase Scrip from grocery stores, department stores, and other merchants in large volumes. Because the Scrip is purchased up front with cash, the retailers give a substantial discount. FGIS PTA buys the Scrip from Great Lakes Scrip Center at a discount and resells the certificates to you at full face value. The difference - from 2 to 15% or more - becomes fundraised money for our school.

You can order scrips on the FGIS order form. Orders will be filled on a biweekly basis, weekly if there is a large enough order. Additional forms are at the front office. Scrips will be delivered to you. Plan ahead for your shopping needs! This is a painless way for our school to raise money. Please email Annie Naar if you have any questions.
